The ADLM is dedicated to advancing the practice and profession of clinical laboratory science and its application to healthcare on a worldwide basis. Within the ADLM, the GLQI Latin America Working Group (LAWG) conducted a needs assessment and determined that improving quality control was its highest priority. The Foundation provided funding which the ADLM used to create educational training and development programs for clinical laboratorians in resource-limited countries. These include quality control workshops held in Latin America that are intended to help establish good laboratory practices that ultimately improve patient care. Additionally, the Foundation supported the annual Oak Ridge Conference, the premier translational research meeting for laboratory diagnostics, for five years. In total, the Foundation provided the society with grants totaling $5.3MM.
